When we visited our client in Silvermine, an historic area in Norwalk, CT., I was hoping it would be one of the historic homes dripping with New England character and charm. Sadly, it was not. But lucky for me, what the home lacked in historic charm was made up for with a lovely client. Susan was full of excitement to finally be able to renovate her kitchen. As dream clients go, she was at the top of the list. A client with an open mind and one that trusts your creativity, experience and knowledge is my definition of a dream client. The pride of being published never gets old. This kitchen was selected to be featured as a “Before and After” project in the annual Kitchen and Bath issue of Consumer Reports.

Over the years of designing hundreds of spaces, in the end if a client is nice, easy to work with and comes to the project with an open mind to the potential of their home, I’m a happy girl.

The existing kitchen resembled an old ice cream parlor, complete with a black and white checked floor and decades old sentimental stuff everywhere…. Literally.

After thoughtful planning, a lot of purging and some tears, our client’s kitchen got a much-needed makeover and we got a happy client ready to enter the next “chapter” of life.

Can you guess what our favorite part of the old kitchen was? Read more here.
