Cape Cod Renovation

What is it called when one of the countries most talented magazine stylists asks you to design their kitchen in one of your favorite places? I call it good luck.

This is a 1970’s classic Cape Cod style home in Cape Cod that got a complete renovation to accommodate an extended family that visits frequently, an aging-in-place parent, two creatives and a dog name Congo in Chatham, MA. My client “ the stylist” primps and props interiors and effortlessly pulls together beautiful containers of flowers. She’s styled projects in the finest homes for the nations leading designers, architects, magazines and brands… as well as my own projects.

I’m always humbled to have her sprinkle her fairy dust on my projects to make to them magazine ready. So you can imagine, I was more than thrilled when she asked me to collaborate with her on the redesign of her own kitchen which was part of a whole house renovation. Cape Cod is a place I unwind as often as possible and have enjoyed since I was a teenager.
See more of the transformation and the materials used here. Can you guess where we relocated the new kitchen to? You got it. We moved the new kitchen to the sunny side of the house, the existing sunroom to create a light filled happy space for Karin to cook, work and entertain the constant summer influx of family and friends. While Karin has a workshop in the house where she creates many of her projects for her photoshoots, she admits she really loves to work in the kitchen.

I’m proud to share that this kitchen has been featured several times in magazines.

Most recently it was on the cover of the AtHOME Jan/ Feb 2019 edition, one of Fairfield Cty’s most well-read design magazines. In 2018 it was featured nationally in Beautiful Kitchens, a Meredith publication and on the cover of Home Remodeling – Cape Cod, the Islands and the South Shore, a favorite local renovation magazine to see what great renovations are happening around the Cape.
