When designing a new space, I often find inspiration from a single seemingly insignificant item. I had envisioned a black and bisque bathroom design. While I love black and white, depending on the materials it can often be too severe when you’re striving for warmth. Black and white also has a distinct look and feel.

While doing some research for the space I came upon some interesting antique French hardware. It was distinct and unusual, and I immediately knew I wanted to use it. It was only a backplate so I added a clear glass knob for functionality. Vintage hardware can be tricky to use because you can’t always get the quantity you may need so I try not to get too excited until we see what we can get.

I contacted the seller in Brooklyn N.Y., and he had a set of 14 pieces, so I took them all and the rest is history. Adding the smallest affordable details to this design added a layer of interest and personality to the bathrooms overall look.
